Embrace the Night by Karen Chance

Title : Embrace the Night
Author: Karen Chance
Date Read: Oct 2011
Why did you read it: 3rd in an ongoing series I am reading.
What was it about: Cassandra Palmer may be the world's chief clairvoyant, but she's still magically bound to a master vampire. Only an ancient book called the Codex Merlini possesses the incantation to free Cassie-but harnessing its limitless power could endanger the world...
Who was your favorite Character: Cassie
How did you feel after reading it: There is the romance that I wanted to see in the second book, but not with the two people I wanted to see it with. There is an attaction between them, when they are together they can't seem to keep their hands off each other but still not exactly what I wanted to see. But the series is still pretty good, but I am kind of getting tired of Cassie being so rebellious and sometimes winey. I understand that her whole life has changed drasticly but these people are trying to help her and she is just fighting them every step of the way.

Buying Trouble, The Day of the Dead, Rogue Elements by Karen Chance

Title : Buying Trouble, The Day of the Dead, Rogue Elements
Author: Karen Chance
Date Read: Oct 2011
Why did you read it: They were three little anthologies from the world of the series I am working through. One was between book 2 and 3 and the last 2 were between book 3 and 4. They were quick read, one 66 pages and the other two around 30 each.
What was it about: 3 stories from the world of Cassie Palmer
Who was your favorite Character: Various
How did you feel after reading it: They were quick little reads and good short stories. It was a little tease kind of to read these, they were just long enough to get things interesting, but not long enough to be satisfying.

Claimed by Shadow by Karen Chance

Title : Claimed by Shadow
Author: Karen Chance
Date Read: Oct 2011
Number of Pages: 274
Why did you read it: Second in a series.
What was it about: Clairvoyant Cassie Plamer has inherited new magical powers-including the ability to travel through time. But it's a whole lot of responsibility she'd rather not have. Now she's the most popular girl in town, as an assortment of vamps, fey, and mages try to convince, force, or seduce her-and her magic-over to their side. But one particular master vampire didn't ask what Cassie wanted before putting a claim on her. He had a spell cast that binds her to him, and now she doesn't know if what she feels for him is real-or imagined...
Who was your favorite Character: John
How did you feel after reading it: Was surprised that it was a series and that it wasn’t different heroines every book. It’s more a series then stand alone books but I am still liking them. I don't normally read series. It's kind of a nice switch. Cassie is unusal woman Who has had a hard life which is getting even harder. I keep hoping that she and John will have a little more of a relationship but we'll see in the upcoming books what happens.

Books

So yeah.. I haven't been posting book stuff lately.
The reason why is because I've been listening more then reading. Audio books have caught my attention, making drives and housework so much better.
I got through 12 audio books since the last book I read. I listened to Kay Hooper's Bishop series.

Stealing Shadows
Hiding in the Shadows
Out of the Shadows
Touching Evil
Whisper of Evil
Sense of Evil
Hunting Fear
Chill of Fear
Sleeping with Fear
Blood Dreams
Blood Sins
Blood Ties

I am excited about the new one that will be coming out this year. It's called the Haven and I can't wait!

Touch the Dark by Karen Chance

Title: Touch the Dark
Author: Karen Chance
Date Read: Sept 2011
Number of Pages:
Why did you read it: It sounded like a good book.
What was it about: Cassandra Palmer can see the future and communicate with spirits-talents that made her attractive to the dead and the undead. The ghosts of the dead aren’t usually dangerous; they just like to talk..a lot.
The undead are another matter.
Like any sensible girl, Cassie tries to avoid vampires. But when the bloodsucking Mafioso she escaped three years ago finds Cassie again with vengeance on his mind, she’s forced to turn to the vampire Senate for protection.
The Undead senators won’t help her for nothing, and Cassie finds herself working with one of their most powerful members, dangerously seductive master vampire-and the price he demands may be more then Cassie is willing to pay.
Who was your favorite Character: the Master vampire (can’t remember his name off hand)
How did you feel after reading it: It was a good book! It seemed fast paced, not something I am used to but it was still good. I felt like there was no break or breathing it seemed. But it was still good and I look forward to reading the next.

Storm's Heart by Thea Harrison

Title: Storm’s Heart
Author: Thea Harrison
Date Read: Sept 2011
Number of Pages: 305
Why did you read it: Was a second in a good looking series.
What was it about: Able to wield thunder and lightning, wyr sentinel Tiago Black Eagle has ruled the skies for centuries. His massive build and thunderous power make him one of the wyr's best weapons. And he's the one sent to protect Tricks, heir to the Dark Fae throne, when she's almost assassinated in Chicago. Soon Tiago and Tricks will fall prey to the stormy hunger that engulfs them-a passion that will shake the very foundation of all the worlds.
Who was your favorite Character: Rune again
How did you feel after reading it: I couldn't wait to read this book and I went throught his one faster then the second. Again there wasn't a lot of conflict between the two and that was refreshing. When there isn't a lot of conflict between the two and they are working together against the bad it is just neat. Was still a great series and wish that the 3rd of Oct would get here sooner for the 3rd book which is about Rune!

Dragon Blood by Thea Harrison

Title: Dragon Bound
Author: Thea Harrison
Date Read: Sept 2011
Number of Pages: 270
Why did you read it: Sounded like a good book
What was it about: Half-human and half-wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful-and passionate-of the Elder races.
Who was your favorite Character: Rune
How did you feel after reading it: I thought it was a really good book and couldn’t wait to read the next. I was up in Duluth when I finished the book, sitting in the starbucks in our hotel. I didn't want to do anything but drink my coffee and read the end of my book. I quickly suggested the book to my mother to read. I thought there was a nice balance between the two main characters, yes he was rather domineering but she wasn't overly wimpy or whiny.
